Well It’s finally done! The demo version of TrapIt is now available on the iTunes Store.

It’s been a bit hard deciding what a good set of limited features are for TrapIt. Unlike a lot of games that actually have a number of levels to complete, TrapIt goes on “forever”. The levels also start out essentially the same with the clear play ground and a number of prisms.

However I bit the bullet and made the decision and this is what you get in the LITE version.

  • You only have 10 levels to get as much score as you can
  • There are only 2 powerups out of of the 7 available in the full version
  • No OpenFeint or Game Center leaderboards
  • No ability to play your own music in the background as you play
  • Only 1 background instead of 6

So, if you’re hankering for an intense old-school style game for your iPhone, check it out and if you like it, grab the Full Version.

Cheers

Hi everyone; it’s sure been quite a long time since I last posted.

I’ve been ferreting away on a LITE version of TrapIt for the last few weeks and finally submitted it to Apple tonight. It will be interesting to see if this spurs any more sales, which have been extremely stagnant of late.

TrapIt LITE (as it’s callled) is a level limited version of the full game. You have just 10 levels to score as much as you can before the game ends. After that, if you want more you have purchase the full version. Other changes that have been made include:

  • No Game Center or OpenFeint support
  • Only one background
  • Only 2 powerups
  • No ability to play your own music while you play

I’m hoping that TrapIt LITE is *just* enough of a teaser and the full version offers *just* enough additional content to get people to take the plunge on the full version. I guess in about 8-10 days (The usual time it takes Apple to review an app) we shall start to see.

Yup that’s right. For a limited time TrapIt will be reduced from it’s bank account emptying $2.49 to a mere $1.29 (That’s US$1.99 down to  $0.99 for our US customers).

If you haven’t bought it yet, or know someone’s who’s waiting for a price drop, tomorrow’s the time!

Hi everyone. Just thought I should chime in so you know that we’re still around and kicking. I was knocked out of existence for about a week due to a really bad stomach bug since I got over that I’m been back working on Trapit. Currently I’m working on a Lite/Free version of the game that I hope to finish in the next few weeks. Hopefully that will stir up some sales.

After that I will be looking at the next update, while continuing some design and prototyping for my possible next title.

Well take care and I’ll keep you all posted!

Aaron

There we go!

I just received confirmation that the latest version of Trapit (1.1) has been accepted and is now available on the iTunes App Store. A little reminded as to what’s in this new version.

  • Game Center support added.
  • Added new achievement “Trapit Veteran” for reaching level 15.
  • Vibration added for devices that support it – When you die, you get a little buzz.
  • TrapIt will pause and prompt for resume if you switch back to it on iOS versions that support multitasking.
  • Added custom achievement notifications.
  • New background added.
  • TrapIt will log you into the leaderboards automatically now, you don’t have to connect manually. We were finding some people were forgetting and then not being awarded their achievements.
  • Instructions updated with an overview screen.
  • Fixed bug where one achievement wasn’t being awarded correctly.

It doesn’t stop there however. I’m already planning the next update and it’s going to be a goody if I do say so myself, so stay tuned!

Check your devices or get it from the usual place here.

It was great to get up this morning and see that New Zealand website Stuff had reviewed TrapIt among a number of New Zealand developed iOS games. What was even better was that it had been given “pick of the bunch”!

“Congratulations Little Geek, you’ve created an old-school arcade game that takes a simple idea and makes it addictive. My pick of the bunch here.”

Check out the full review here.

Hey folks, just thought I’d let you all know that I finally submitted TrapIt v1.1 to the App Store. The main reason for the update was to add fix a niggle in one of the achievement and to add support for Game Center which has been requested by a number of people.

If you don’t know what Game Center is, it is Apple’s online social gaming system, much like the OpenFeint system that is already in TrapIt. It has leader-boards and achievements just like OpenFeint, but a number of people who already were using Game Center didn’t want to split their achievements across two systems. Now you can use both, or either one, it’s up to you!

As well as the Game Center support there were a number of other little things that were added also.

Stay tunes, and I’ll let you all know when it’s live!

I really want to say a massive thanks to the ButtonMasher team who have kindly given us free banner space on their website for Trapit. We have a nice, honking great banner in the top right of the screen prominently placed where noone can miss it.

Check it out here. Of course it won’t be there forever, but keep visiting that link and supporting  ButtonMasher anyway!

Thanks so much guys

GameConsole is a New Zealand gaming website and New Zealand’s only gaming magazine. Today they posted their (favourable) review of TrapIt.

Little Geek, you’ve made New Zealand proud. Your debut title plays well, looks good, and will probably earn you a stack of cash

“..and will probably earn you a stack of cash” – I like that, time to cross my fingers.
